McFly's Bird Shoppe

McFly’s Bird Shoppe Now Open in Five Points South

McFly’s Bird Shoppe is a new-age chicken shoppe featuring a variety of house-made chicken, turkey, and veggie tenders, as well as an array of unique sauces such as Bloody Mary Ketchup, Nashville Hot Mayo and Black Garlic Ranch.

The fast-casual dining spot will serve its fare along with a soundtrack of nostalgic classics including old school hip hop, 80’s rock, and an occasional Disney princess ballad. The floor is colorfully decorated with magazine ads.

Not much seating is available, having only bar stools that outline the counter along the front window of the restaurant, so diners should be prepared to eat and go.

The menu is simple and is presented in a sushi-style order form complete with check boxes: decide on a meal (just the number of tenders or a sandwich and number of sides), choose a meat (or the meat substitute), pick your sides, and decide between the many sauce options.

On our first visit, we chose three spicy chicken tenders with fries and mac-n-cheese. The spicy tenders were hand-battered and the taste was reminiscent of Nashville hot chicken. The fries were pretty standard, although there was an option to have them tossed in a seasoning, for which we chose Old Bay. The mac-n-cheese seemed to be popular option amongst the diners at the time of our visit. Opinions vary on what constitutes proper mac-n-cheese, especially in the south. This one featured large pasta and a cheese sauce, similar to a Velveeta style.
