Foodies of Birmingham was founded by Mandy (McDaniel) Williams, a Birmingham-native. She enjoys a large spectrum of cuisines, from multi-course meals at fine dining establishments to finding local gems hidden inside of gas stations and food trucks. She started Foodies of Birmingham after seeing a need in Birmingham for a more comprehensive food guide that offers an in-depth look at some of the cuisine. Amongst her favorite restaurants and bars in Birmingham are: Pho Que Huong (a Vietnamese restaurant), Paper Doll Bar, Los Valedores (a taco truck), Red Sea Ethiopian, Freddy’s Wine Bar, Klinger’s European Bakery & Cafe, Ocean, and The Rougaroux.
Mandy is an alumnus of Birmingham-Southern College, where she studied vocal performance with a concentration in classical music and UAB Graduate School, where she studied communication management. She is an active member of the Opera Birmingham chorus, where she most recently performed in Puccini’s Tosca in March of 2019. She owns and operates McDaniel PR, a full-service public relations and marketing firm that specializes in small businesses marketing. She occasionally writes for several publications including: Iron City Ink, Shelby Living Magazine, Hoover’s Magazine and artsBHAM. Her community service endeavors include: Opera Birmingham, American Heart Association and the Homewood Chamber of Commerce. Mandy and her husband Johnathan reside in Homewood with their two children, Isabella and Liam, and their four scottish terriers: Sean, Stella, Lucy & Ethel.
